GarageBand
On a Mac
- Create a Software Instrument track and select it.
- Play Mother MIDI. GarageBand hears every MIDI input automatically.
GarageBand for Mac doesn’t send MIDI clock, so the arpeggiator won’t run. Chords and single notes work as normal.
On iPad
No cable needed. GarageBand picks up Mother MIDI on the same iPad.
- Open GarageBand and choose a Keyboard or other touch instrument.
- Open Mother MIDI in Split View or Slide Over beside it.
- Play Mother MIDI. GarageBand plays the notes and records them when you press record.
Both apps must stay on screen. On iPhone, switching to GarageBand pauses Mother MIDI, so the two can’t play together.
GarageBand for iPad doesn’t send MIDI clock, so the arpeggiator won’t run.
